Robert Lindneux was trained privately in New York under the direction of an aunt who took him in when he was orphaned. Lindneux was sent to Europe to further his studies, saw Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show in Paris, met Rosa Bonheur, and decided to sail back to the States and head west. Lindneux worked as a ranch hand, spent time with several Indian tribes, stayed with Charlie Russell in Great Falls, and eventually set up shop in Denver.
